Thiago Alcantara has had a second setback in his efforts to make a comeback from hip surgery, according to Jurgen Klopp.
However, he is optimistic that the Spanish player and Stefan Bajcetic, who has also had a fresh injury setback following his most recent recovery, will be available again after the international break.
Since having surgery in May, Thiago has not played for Liverpool, and attempts to rejoin full training have already been foiled twice by further physical setbacks.
After surviving an adductor injury, Bajcetic participated in victories over LASK and Leicester before being forced to sit out once more.In response to a question on both before the team’s trip to Brighton on Sunday, Klopp said: “For him (Thiago), it’s really irritating. Two more obstacles in the recuperation process.
“Not much, but sufficient to take him out of the game once more. Despite obviously not being the same injury, the damage was pretty comparable.
And as frustrating for Stefan Bajcetic as it is. Was there, played for a while, and then experienced something different. Sometimes that is how it is after long-term injuries.
I won’t put any pressure on [when they can return] because I don’t know. We’ll have to wait and see whether they return after the international break. We hope it would be cool.
The manager did have better news on Cody Gakpo, who last weekend departed the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium wearing a knee brace.
Conor Bradley, who has been out since sustaining an injury in preseason, is set to join the Dutchman when he returns to play.
Cody has a high chance of returning [after the break], according to Klopp. He is already out of the brace and moving around normally.
We almost got the best player out of all the very, very awful injury opportunities and possibilities, but he is still injured.
Conor is currently returning. He’s jogging. You tend to give kids three weeks more than necessary in that age range and with these kinds of injuries because it has to get well.
“It has to do with how the body develops. such like this.
“Let me put it this way: I was unable to sustain this injury any longer. They require some time because of this.
