Thiago Alcantara
Thiago has been sidelined since requiring surgery on a hip issue that ruled him out of the final weeks of the 2022-23 campaign, and remains unavailable for selection, Jürgen Klopp confirmed on October 20.
Stefan Bajcetic
Bajcetic is recovering from a calf issue after he made a return from a previous long-term injury, and is also still out, Klopp reported on October 20.
Conor Bradley
The full-back is making progress with his recovery from injury.
Klopp on October 6: “Conor is on the way back, he is running, but in that age group and with these kind of injuries you tend to give them rather three weeks more than not enough because it has to do with the growing process of the body and stuff like this. I couldn’t get this injury anymore, let me say it like that! And that’s why he needs a bit of time.”
Luke Chambers
Chambers has made a return to training following injury.
Klopp on October 20: “Luke Chambers trains today first time again after a little ligament issue.”
Ben Doak
The 17-year-old picked up a muscle problem when representing Scotland U21s during the October international break.
Klopp on October 20: “Ben Doak from Scotland has a little muscle thing, so we have to see but is not available for the weekend.”
Cody Gakpo
Gakpo returned to training in the build-up to the Merseyside derby with Everton following the injury he sustained in the fixture away at Tottenham Hotspur.
Klopp on October 20: “Cody trained once with the team, so we have to see how that goes for tomorrow.”
Andy Robertson
The left-back is set to undergo surgery on the shoulder he injured while playing for Scotland in October and is facing a lengthy spell out.
Klopp on October 20: “I think the decision we go towards [is] surgery. There was a little chance that he could try without. But after talking to pretty much all experts, it looks like surgery will be the best thing, especially in the long term, definitely. And that means he is out for a while.
“Don’t know exactly how long but shoulder surgery is not an easy one. From my experience, you can train pretty quickly again but not football-specific because you have to be careful, challenges and all these kind of things. So, yeah, [he] will be out for a while.”
Curtis Jones
The midfielder has served one game of his three-match Premier League ban following a red card at Tottenham. He will miss the fixtures with Everton and Nottingham Forest in October.
Diogo Jota
Jota has served his one-match suspension following his two yellow cards and sending-off versus Tottenham, making him available for the encounter with Everton.
