LIVERPOOL EYE £25M ACE AND 20-YEAR-OLD AS POSSIBLE MO SALAH REPLACEMENTS
According to reports, Jan Aage Fjortoft has more HP than David Ornstein. However, as the former Norway international turned commentator rushed to Twitter on Wednesday morning, claiming to have an inside track on claims that Mo Salah might leave Liverpool for Al-Ittihad, his statements will have sent shivers down the spines of several.
“I understand Salah is likely to leave Liverpool this week,” Fjortoft writes. “I understand Salah will most likely leave Liverpool this week.”
“The money offered to player and club is just unbelievable.”
Whether there is any truth to Fjortoft’s rather sensational claims remains to be seen. But Liverpool have already discovered this summer that the pulling power of Saudi Arabia can be difficult to withstand; Fabinho departing and Jordan Henderson picking up an eye-watering £700,000 a week salary at Al-Ettifaq.
Mo Salah almost impossible to replace for Liverpool
Salah, on the other hand, is a different story. Salah is Liverpool’s talisman, even if Fabinho and Henderson are past their prime and on the wrong side of the hill. Their most consistent goal scorer. And their best chance of returning to the top four.
Furthermore, finding a substitute at this late stage in the window would be very impossible. After all, there are only a few footballers on the planet who can compete with Liverpool’s ‘Egyptian King,’ and none of them are likely to be available for transfer.
According to reports in Spain, however, Liverpool are keeping tabs on Barcelona duo Ansu Fati and Abde Ezalzouli should a worst-case scenario occur. Liverpool have reportedly informed the La Liga champions of their interest.
Fati is the more experienced and naturally talented of the two. According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona may be willing to let him go on loan, with Tottenham Hotspur in talks. While Fati’s career has been hampered by a succession of ailments, it should not be forgotten that the silky Spain international burst onto the scene in Barcelona, smashing a slew of records. They gave him Lionel Messi’s legendary number ten shirt for a reason.
In terms of Abde, his best performances have occurred while on loan. He shone at Osasuna in 2022/23, and Mundo Deportivo reports that his fee has risen to £25 million.
