LIVERPOOL NOW FAVOURITES TO SIGN ‘INCREDIBLE’ PLAYER, BUT CHELSEA REMAIN A THREAT Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are reportedly facing a threat from Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea in their quest to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton in the summer transfer window.
The report has claimed that Liverpool are “favourites to sign Lavia”.
However, according to the report, Chelsea “remain in the running” for the 19-year-old Belgium international defensive midfielder, who has been described as “incredible” by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola in the past.
According to The Daily Mail, Southampton want £50 million for the former Manchester City prospect.
Liverpool need to take Chelsea threat for Romeo Lavia seriously
In our opinion, Liverpool need to get a deal done for Romeo Lavia soon and not allow Chelsea to make a move for the Southampton defensive midfielder.
It is clear that Southampton will sell Lavia to the highest bidder.
The Saints want £50 million for the teenager.
So, if Chelsea decided to make that sum, then they would be able to sign Lavia.
Although there are rumours that the defensive midfielder has agreed personal terms with Liverpool, a potential move to Chelsea could be just as appealing, especially if the London club showed that they are so keen on him that they are willing to pay £50 million.
Liverpool have had bids rejected for Lavia.
The Merseyside outfit need to step up their game now.
While we do not think that Lavia is worth £50 million – after all, he has just one good season in the Premier League and is only 19 – if Liverpool are really keen on him, then they should pay the sum and beat Chelsea to his signature.
Lavia has made 29 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The teenager has scored one goal in those games.
