Ronald De Boer has stated that Liverpool would not make a mistake in signing PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré since he is more than capable of making the step up.
The Dutchman spoke to Voetbal Nieuws about the player, who has been linked with a move away from PSV this summer.
For several years, he has been the unquestioned star of the show at the Dutch club, with his talents not going unnoticed and seeing him routinely linked with a move to the Premier League as a result.
This summer has been a similar story, with Liverpool being drawn into the fray as a result of their midfielder revamp.
The Reds have lost both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho this summer, and while Wataru Endo has been brought in to cover the void, there is a feeling that another acquisition is required if Jurgen Klopp’s roster is not to be left short.
PSV are more than willing to sell if their asking price is fulfilled, with a report earlier this month stating that if anyone offered €37.5 million, they would gladly sell the midfielder.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will offer such a sum, but De Boer believes they should since it would be money well spent.
“I think he’s a great player,” he stated of the athlete.
I don’t think he can be kept for PSV. He will still join a genuine top-flight club, like as Liverpool. Bayern Munich versus Paris Saint-Germain? He can manage it, in my opinion.
“I always say that if he gets the Makélélé role, takes the ball away, and passes it to someone who can play football well, he will be a golden player for your team.”
“He is in the middle of everything and has a tendency to rush things.” You need players like them on your team.”
