CREATIVITY: Klopp explains ‘massive steps’ made by Liverpool star after win over West Ham

Following his crucial contribution in Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over West Ham, manager Jurgen Klopp praised the “massive steps” forward Darwin Nunez has already taken this season.

After Jarrod Bowen’s diving header had leveled the score, the Uruguayan international’s fourth goal of the campaign—which pulls him even with Mohamed Salah, who scored the opening penalty—was essential in swinging the game in the hosts’ favor.

The Reds moved into second place in the table thanks to substitute Diogo Jota’s late goal, but it was Nunez’s all-around performance that stood out, with his exquisite volley the game’s most memorable play.

Over the last few weeks, he has shown remarkable improvement, becoming a serious threat. Remember that amazing goal? It was incredibly impressive.

I really can’t wait to watch it again. His availability is a significant advantage for us, as his ball-controlling skills help get the ball upfield quickly to set up scoring opportunities.

It proved especially vital in our third goal against Wolverhampton. But beyond that, his defensive contributions really make him stand out.

He always intended to do it, but his efforts were less organized. That appears much better now.

We were able to work around him thanks to Curtis Jones and Dom (Dominik Szoboszlai), whose flexibility was really helpful. It’s excellent, without a doubt.

In the end, the outcome was straightforward, but for considerable stretches, it wasn’t, as tough West Ham consistently offered a threat and excelled at stopping Liverpool’s momentum.

It was anticipated. A challenging game; the first half had some excellent moments, but we were not sufficiently in control to completely thwart them.

I truly believed that we played well in various stages, lost some balls that we shouldn’t have lost, but we managed to score our goal, which was a fantastic counterattack.

I wasn’t quite shocked when they scored. Clearly, we need to have provided stronger defense. The most crucial thing is to remain competitive, which is what we accomplished in the second half.

We had far more control over them and properly challenged them. They were really troubled by us, and we scored some fantastic goals.
