Everton defeated the Reds 1-0 in the WSL to hand Liverpool their third straight loss at Anfield, and manager Matt Beard expressed his disapproval of the referees.
Liverpool Women were extremely unfortunate on Sunday night, but they haven’t scored in any of their previous three Anfield Merseyside Derby matches.
Missy Bo Kearns, a Liverpool fan, believed she had scored in front of the Kop a few minutes in, but her goal was disallowed for offside.
The goal should have stood, according to replays, and there was nothing that could be done without VAR. The team led by Matt Beard ultimately lost 1-0.
“I think if you look at the way we started, I don’t think we deserved to lose the game,” Beard remarked, criticising the officials.
“As I’ve stated previously, I firmly believe that the officiating affected the outcome. I’ve been watching the goal back, and Bo (Missy Bo Kearns) has been kept onside by the player pressuring Taylor (Hinds).
The goal that was disallowed, according to Beard, “completely changed the dynamic of the game.”
It’s important to remember that Everton dominated the majority of the game after the disallowed goal, which occurred within the first five minutes.
Beard said, “To be honest, I’m just sick and tired of it because there are two different coloured grass blades.”
It’s true that everyone says that, so it’s not just me, I believe.
“We’re watching live on Sky Sports as foul throws are made, and the fourth official is informing the referee that it’s a foul throw but it’s not being called.” It’s pretty embarrassing, in my opinion.
While Brian Sorensen, the manager of Beard’s opponent, was plainly happy with his team’s victory, Beard was definitely dissatisfied about the match’s outcome.
