Championship: Reaction as new role was given to Leicester City play maker

In his new role at Leicester City, Wilfred Ndidi is happy.

Ndidi, a defensive midfielder, has been positioned higher on the field this year under Italian boss Enzo Maresca.

By adjusting to the new role, the 26-year-old has proven Maresca’s trust in him was well-placed.

This season, the Nigerian has three goals for the former Premier League winners.

The penalty that Ndidi gained was converted by Jamie Vardy on Saturday at the King Power Stadium to give the Foxes the victory over Bristol City.

Ndidi gave Maresca credit for his outstanding performances this season.

I appreciate the manager’s efforts to explain the role to me. He told the club’s official website that he was attempting to assist me.

The guys that naturally fill that function are also assisting me. It takes time. I’ll carry on because things are going nicely. I try to enter the box more frequently, so it’s quite intriguing. Although I’ve always had it, it took Enzo to make me aware that I actually do. I feel like he’s pushing me.
