Issahaku Abdul Fatawu of Ghana, Wilfred Ndidi of Nigeria, and Kelechi Iheanacho all contributed significantly to Leicester City’s excellent 1-4 away victory at Blackburn Rovers on Sunday in a match from the ninth round of the EFL Championship.
Midweek, Leicester City lost 3-1 to Liverpool in the League Cup, but the Foxes picked up a narrow victory at Ewood Park to get back on track.
as Fatawu, a teenager on loan from Sporting Lisbon, first entered the game, it was exhilarating. The young forward’s hard work was soon rewarded as he assisted Wout Faes in setting up Leicester’s first goal in the fourth minute.
Sammie Szmodics of Blackburn Rovers scored an equalizer five minutes later by putting the ball far past Mads Hermansen of Leicester City.
However, the visitors continued to play better, and they took the lead again just before the half-hour mark as Ndidi expertly set up Jamie Vardy for a goal.
Vardy was replaced by Iheanacho in the 76th minute, and six minutes later the Super Eagles striker scored by converting a penalty kick.
Late in the game, Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall completed Leicester City’s scoring.
With 24 points from nine games, Leicester City now leads the Championship table after the victory.
The team led by Enzo Maresca is two points ahead of Ipswich Town, who are in second position.
They are favourites to make an instant return to the Premier League after they were relegated last season.
