Leicester City star fails to impress, still seeking for ‘a reassuring impression’

Wout Faes of Leicester City still has to impress the Belgian press after his performances for the club.

That’s according to Voetbal Primeur, who covered the latest comments from La Dernière Heure on the Leicester City player today.

Faes has been a regular for Belgium since Domenico Tedesco was selected as Roberto Martinez’s replacement during the World Cup.

He’s kept that status despite Leicester’s relegation from the Premier League, and he recently spoke about it, stating that Tedesco had informed him that he had his trust and that he’d continue to pick him.

That has been the case, but worries linger regarding the centre-back, who has yet to fully demonstrate his ability to command the Belgian defense in the future.
Despite their victories over the international break, LDH covered the player today under the heading ‘Wout tout à fait en phase’. That translates as “Wout isn’t quite there yet.”

According to them, the defense made multiple errors against Azerbaijan and Estonia, and as a result, “Faes has not left a reassuring impression.”

They’re not dismissing him entirely, but they do wonder, ‘What is the degree of Faes?’and ‘does he have the ability to lead the national team?’

As far as they’re concerned, the discussion over the Leicester man continues, with more to be done and shown before he can persuade Belgium that he’s the one they want.
