According to Mike McGrath, Leeds United are likely to sanction the loan transfer of midfielder Sam Greenwood to Middlesbrough.
On August 30, the Telegraph journalist tweeted that the 21-year-old had passed his medical and was on his way to Teesside.
He stated that the specifics of the move with the Whites’ Championship opponents are still being worked out, but it is expected to be on a temporary basis due to the club’s great admiration for him, with the midfielder set to become the ninth player to leave Elland Road on loan this summer.
It’s clear that Leeds still believe that Greenwood does have a future in West Yorkshire as they are only willing to allow him to leave temporarily.
The attacking midfielder will join the long list of players to depart the club on loan after Robin Koch, Max Wober, Brenden Aaronson, Jack Harrison, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca and Sonny Perkins have all left Elland Road.
But the majority of them had a clause in their contracts that allowed them to leave if the Whites were relegated from the Premier League last season, with Perkins the only player on the list alongside Greenwood that is likely to have a future at the club.
In other Leeds United news, the club appears to have failed in their pursuit of a Premier League midfielder.
