Leeds United are on the verge of bringing in two new players, with a physical scheduled for Lewis Pirie.

According to AberdeenLive, Leeds United is not only close to securing Lewis Pirie from Aberdeen but is also nearing a deal to sign Joshua McDonald from Hamilton.

The 16-year-old Dons striker Pirie will have a physical in West Yorkshire within the next day after the Scottish Premiership club and the Whites agreed to a £200,000 deal, according to Fabrizio Romano’s report on Tuesday (11 July).

According to AberdeenLive, English clubs are currently plundering Scottish clubs for “hot young talent,” and it is believed that 16-year-old Hamilton midfielder McDonald is also close to moving to Elland Road.

Leeds might not have a wealth of transfer funds to spend this summer.

It seems as though the bulk of outgoing players will be leaving Elland Road on loan, which frees up their wages and may also bring in some loan fees.

The balance of the money Leeds has to spend will have to be paid for by the 49ers, utilised from parachute payments, or brought in from saved wages.

Spending £200,000 on Pirie is really nothing. His pay will be reasonable as well.

The young striker is hot property in Scotland, so Leeds fans should be excited by his arrival. It remains to be seen how much McDonald will cost, but given that he’s coming from Scottish League One side Hamilton, it’s likely to be a lot less. It’s next to nothing, and those deals will be done by those who are perhaps away from the bulk of the main first-team business at Elland Road.

If we had taken that attitude to transfers, we never would have acquired Crysencio Summerville, Joe Gelhardt, Darko Gyabi, Sonny Perkins, Cody Drameh, or Sam Greenwood, and all of them appear to be major contributors at Elland Road for the upcoming season.

A forward from the Champions League is expected to move to Elland Road this summer, according to recent Leeds United news.
