Leeds United are interested in Manchester United’s Brandon Williams and West Brom’s Grady Diangana.

Leeds are not interested in signing Brandon Williams or Grady Diangana this summer, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Writing on their official website (2 August), the news outlet report that claims the Whites are interested in the Manchester United defender and West Brom winger are “wide of the mark”.

Reports from The Independent (1 August) suggested that Farke wanted a reunion with Williams after their time together at Norwich, while Express and Star (1 August) named Leeds as an interested party in a potential £7m deal for Baggies ace Diangana.

“Meanwhile, reports linking Leeds with moves for Manchester United defender Brandon Williams and West Bromwich Albion’s Grady Diangana are understood to be wide of the mark,” they wrote.

Bubble burst

A winger is certainly not a position that Leeds need to fill as it stands, and Diangana isn’t someone whose goal and injury records filled anyone with confidence.

Similarly with Williams, his affiliation with Manchester United and lack of regular football in recent seasons raises the question about whether he is of the level required to be targeted for a promotion push and eventual place in the Premier League.

However, there is also no doubting that the club do need fresh faces and additions to the squad before the end of the window and with more exits likely between now and then these deals may have made some sense.

But with the club ruling out moves for both, it suggests they feel that either the squad is fine as it is or simply that they agree with fans who feel these two players aren’t good enough.

Either way we’ll be waiting a little while longer to see additions coming into Elland Road, and it now seems highly unlikely that it will be Williams or Diangana when it does eventually happen
