Leeds United to finalize £5m+ deal Nadiem Amiri signing

Leeds United are at an advanced stage in their bid to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Nadiem Amiri, according to Kicker.

The German sports magazine reported on its website on 23 August that the Whites are willing to pay the Bundesliga side’s £5.1million asking price to take the the 26-year-old to Elland Road.

But Ligue 1 side Marseille are also interested in the German international, who is due to make a decision on whether he wants to make the switch to West Yorkshire or hold out for a move to France.

Tough one

This is an extremely tough one to call as to whether or not Amiri will be willing to drop down to the Championship from the Bundesliga.

The positive news for Leeds is that Kicker believes they are currently the only side that are looking to match Bayer’s valuation of the player, so it isn’t as though he has a host of options.

It did, however, highlight that the German is unsure whether he wants to make the move to the Whites after they suffered relegation last season.

That is kind of understandable from the central midfielder because he has played more than 200 games in the German top flight, including making 25 league appearances for Bayer last season as well as featuring heavily in the Champions League and the Europa League.

This is a deal that’s going to take the influence of his compatriot Daniel Farke to get it over the line as it looks like it could be a real coup if the Whites can pull it off.
