And according to statements from Clarke from the What the EFL podcast on September 19 that were obtained by Football League World, Rutter may have made a difference if he had been used more during the previous campaign.
Pirose and Rutter, whose lack of playing time from the previous season still astounds me, are forming a strong partnership there.
I think he’s a person with a lot of talent who could have done something for Leeds in their battle to stay in the league, but he was absolutely cast aside, written off as a no-hoper, and I think we can see that Georginio Rutter is no no-hoper, said the author.
We’ll never know
large expectations for Georginio Rutter came along with a large price tag, especially as Leeds desperately needed motivation last season as they battled relegation from the Premier League.
But despite the steep price Leeds paid, there was a sense that Rutter was a player for the long term, and his lack of playing time supported that notion.
Rutter was one of the players that did stay at Elland Road despite an exodus of the first-team squad as a result of Leeds’ summer roster uncertainty due to their drop to the Championship.
Playing in the second tier may end up proving a blessing in disguise for Rutter, who has already displayed the sort of quality he can bring to the table in the early stages of the campaign.
The hope is he can get a big goals return and fire Leeds back to the Premier League, where he will hope for another crack to showcase his talent.
