According to FLW, the next two players might depart Portman Road for fairly big sums of money.

Ipswich Town is without a doubt a club on the rise.

After being promoted from League One to the Championship last season, Kieran McKenna’s team has adjusted well to the second flight.

The Tractor Boys appear to be a team that will be looking ahead of itself in the table this season rather than fearfully glancing behind it, though it is still too early to draw any definite conclusions.

Naturally, their impressive start may also be attributed to the outstanding playing group that Portman Road has developed recently, as well as to having a young, promising manager in Kieran McKenna.

We thought we’d look at the present roster at Ipswich Town to try and forecast the next two players that the club will sell for a lot of money. With those great individuals in mind, see below, and just for fun.

Conor Chapli

Conor Chaplin is the first player at Ipswich Town who we believe has the potential to go for a sizable transfer fee in the near future.

The 26-year-old is coming off of League One’s greatest season of his career, when his prolific goal-scoring propelled Ipswich Town to automatic promotion.

In fact, Chaplin notched 26 goals and five assists for the Tractor Boys in the third tier in 2022/23.

Importantly, Chaplin also had a particularly good run of scoring near the conclusion of the season, netting 10 league goals in Ipswich’s final nine League One games.

Chaplin, who has prior Championship experience, has thus far had no trouble adjusting to the Championship, having contributed to three goals and three assists before the end of September.

Clubs seeking for an offensive threat and with promotion aspirations may start to look Chaplin’s way if he can get even near to the statistics he produced last season and if Ipswich Town are not right there in the league rankings.

If that’s the case, any team hoping to sign Chaplin would undoubtedly have to fork up a sizable sum of money given that he just recently extended his deal through 2026.

Leif Davis

Leif Davis, a defender for Ipswich Town, is the other player we believe may be headed for a potentially high-paying move in the near future.

Davis is another player who excelled in the position that Kieran McKenna assigned to him during the previous season in League One.

In fact, Davis not only managed an astounding 14 assists for his teammates, but he also managed to score three goals from the wing-back position.

There are indications that this trend will continue this year as well, as shown by Chaplin and Davis’ two assists in the first seven league games.
