George is eager to face the Saints Challenge.

Prior to tonight’s match against Southampton, Town’s striker George Hirst is loving the team’s current winning streak

After Saturday’s triumph at George’s former team Sheffield Wednesday, the focus shifts to St. Mary’s tonight. The striker previously spent time on loan at Portsmouth, one of the Saints’ main rivals.

Then, on Saturday, the attacker plays Blackburn, a team he played for on loan for the first half of last season before moving to Portman Road.

The stretch of games coincides with George’s successful recovery from an injury that forced him to leave a recent home game against Cardiff City.

George said to TownTV, “I had a little issue before the Cardiff game and tried to get back as quickly as I could, but I ended up picking up a slightly different injury.”

“That was annoying and unfortunate, but I’m recovered now and prepared to start the rest of the season.

I worked out almost every day throughout the international break in an effort to get as fit as possible, so I didn’t get many days off.

TICKETS FOR THE SAINTS v. TOWN GAME ARE NOW AVAILABLE

We had Sheffield Wednesday, which was obviously a big game for me personally, and now we have Southampton; I was on loan at Portsmouth for a while, so there’s a little more for me there.

It was important for me to come back in shape for this period because of the major games for me, and then after that it’s Blackburn, where I spent the first half of last season.

They were in the Premier League for a short while before moving to the Championship, but we must take each game as it comes because we are confident that, on our best day, we can compete with anyone in the division. It’s important that we remain the center of attention while attempting to take advantage of their shortcomings.

TownTV offers live coverage of tonight’s game in the UK and other countries.

Supporter match passes in the UK are available here for £10.
