Packers QB Jordan Love acknowledges 49ers loss ‘will sting for a while’ after outstanding season ends with narrow three-point loss and a horrific interception in the final moments
Packers quarterback Jordan Love reacted to the awful interception that he made to close out Green Bay’s 24-21 loss against the San Francisco 49ers.
Love breached rule No. 1 for quarterbacks on the Packers final play of the game with less than a minute left on the clock when he threw a ball deep down field and across his body that was intercepted to cement Green Bay’s loss.
‘Play broke down I was scrambling right,’ Love began his response to a question about the play. ‘I spotted Christian [Watkins] over the middle and, you know, attempted to push one into him.
I thought I could make the play. I didn’t see the backside so they made a terrific play.’
Love was then questioned about several more throws that the offense did not connect on that potentially could have turned into massive game-changing plays. ‘The one to Tucker [Kraft], you know I missed it. I was a little bit behind him,’ added Love. ‘He was doing a crossing route and clearly it was tipped up and picked.
‘The one to Aaron [Jones] was kind of off schedule. You know he stayed on the move, and we simply weren’t on the same page there. I missed that one as well.
‘It will sting for a while, watching all the games going forward. It will sting knowing we had an opportunity to win and we dropped the ball on that one. It will sting for a while.’
Love concluded the night by going 21-34 for 194 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
The 25-year-old QB and the rest of the players on the field had to contend with downpouring rain throughout the evening, which also came up during his post-game news conference.
‘It was obviously pouring a significant amount; it’s a difficulty that presents itself. But I don’t think it was affecting too much in the passing game.’
Love had pushed through the rain in order to connect with Kraft and wide receiver Bo Melton for his two touchdowns on the evening.
