Good news for Joe Barry: The Miami Dolphins just announced Joe as the…

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Joe Barry, a former defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers, will join the Miami Dolphins as their run game coordinator and linebackers coach.
From 2021 to 2023, Joe Barry served as the defensive coordinator for the Packers. Following the team’s 2023 season, which ended in a defeat to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional round, Barry was let go.

Barry will now return to his former position as linebackers coach, which he has had with several teams in the past, along with the additional duty of serving as Mike McDaniel’s run game coordinator.

After Vic Fangio left the Dolphins to join the Philadelphia Eagles, Anthony Weaver, a former defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, was brought in to take over as defensive coordinator. Barry will play a significant role on Weaver’s staff.

With the new coaches in place, it will be intriguing to see how the Dolphins defense performs the following season.

There were times this season when it seemed the Dolphins would win the AFC South with ease, but in the last week of competition, they were upset by the Buffalo Bills. Miami is trying to overtake the Bills as the team leading the AFC South. It is anticipated that with these new defensive personnel, they will be able to achieve that goal.

Barry’s defense received a lot of flak during his time with the Packers. He won’t be in command of the whole squad with the Dolphins, and maybe he will thrive in his new position as a linebackers’ coach. The impact he has on the next season would be interesting to see.
