In the third week of the 2023 NFL season, a former starting linebacker for the Green Bay Packers announced his retirement.
The move came after the 2014 third-round pick was relegated to practice squad duties for the Buffalo Bills this season.
A former Green Bay Packers starter, Christian Kirksey, retires
According to Mike Garafolo with the NFL Network, Christian Kirksey announced his intention to retire. He recorded 778 tackles, created 16.5 sacks, and made seven interceptions during his nine-year NFL career.
Kirksey signed a two-year deal with the Green Bay Packers in the 2020 offseason. He started in 11 games for the Packers in 2020 but spent some of the season on injured reserve for a pectoral injury.
