This offseason, LaFleur preached patience when it came to personnel selections.
The Green Bay Packers’ 24-21 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round sparked speculation about possible changes to Matt LaFleur’s coaching staff. LaFleur hired Joe Barry, the Packers’ defensive coordinator, in February 2021.
LaFleur prepared for a press conference on Monday, anticipating questions about his staff, including Joe Barry’s future with the team.
“I know there will be a lot of long-term, big-picture questions,” stated LaFleur. “I’m not there yet, guys. As previously stated, we are only at the beginning of this process. But we’re only getting started with the evaluation.
The Packers coach also disclosed that he will attend talks with his assistants and coordinators in the afternoon. LaFleur also stated that he will be patient in making decisions about his staff moving forward, particularly with Joe Barry.
According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Matt LaFleur stated that he plans to proceed at his own pace during the process.
