Packers vs Bucs on Wednesday: Jayden Reed is expected to play
The Packers held a walkthrough following their Monday night game to prepare for their Sunday matchup against the Buccaneers. Five important players wouldn’t be able to train.
GREEN BAY, Wisconsin: For the Green Bay Packers’ game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, the receiver position has at least somewhat improved.
The Packers formally conducted a walkthrough after their Monday night loss to the Giants. Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) and Christian Watson (hamstring) would not have practiced, but rookie Jayden Reed would have had limited practice time.
Reed did not sustain a concussion and was not included in the protocol, even though he was being assessed for one after being stopped on the crucial 2-point run late in the fourth quarter. Instead, he has an ankle ache and is listed as injured.
He said, “I’m fine.” I’m ready to go because we just finished the jog-through and everything today.
During the 2-point play, Reed was hit hard by Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke, which led to the concussion test.
Reed said, “I got up and for some reason they just brought me in the tent and told me I had to go in.” I entered and took the necessary safety measures, and everything is well.
What transpired during the fatal two-point play
The fact that his impact rookie is not suffering from a brain injury is “great” news, according to coach Matt LaFleur.
By no means am I an expert, but from our conversation, he told me he was fine following the game, according to LaFleur. However, it goes without saying that there is a procedure you must follow. Thus, you’re worried all the time. However, he conveyed to me with a fair amount of assurance that everything was well. Once more, you must go through the procedure.
According to Reed, he is unsure of when he injured his ankle; it did not occur during the previous play. He was “really sore” when he woke up on Tuesday, but by Wednesday, he was feeling much better.
The Packers may not have enough perimeter players, even if Reed plays. Luke Musgrave, a tight end (kidney; injured reserve), Watson, and Wicks are ranked third, fourth, and fifth in terms of receptions, respectively, and have scored seven touchdowns in total.
Wicks stated after the game on Monday that he thought it was a high-ankle sprain, but on Wednesday he would not rule out being available on Sunday.
The injury situation complicates game planning, particularly when it affects a single position.
According to LaFleur, that is the nature of our business. The other guys need to be prepared for the game. Not every team experiences that, just us. Last week, Tampa was missing several players, especially on the defensive end of the ball. Everybody has similar problems.
Running back AJ Dillon (thumb), safety Darnell Savage (shoulder), and linebacker Quay Walker (shoulder) were also listed as not participating, in addition to Wicks and Watson.Aaron Jones, the running back, was limited, just like last week. He stated that he plans to work out on Thursday.
