Aaron Rodgers plans to depart Green Bay for the New York Jets in an unexpected move.
After spending 18 seasons in Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers stated that he plans to play for the New York Jets in 2023.
Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, is about to take a big step in the NFL. Following eighteen years with the Packers, Rodgers declared his intention to play for the New York Jets in 2023. During an appearance on YouTube and Sirius XM’s “The Pat McAfee Show,” the announcement was made.
During the interview, Rodgers clarified that he thinks the Packers are prepared to turn the corner and start Jordan Love at quarterback. He stated clearly that he wants to play for the Jets, even if he understands that the Packers are attempting to get paid for him. Rodgers was recently in Southern California, when he was visited by Woody Johnson, the owner of the Jets, Robert Saleh, and general manager Joe Douglas. Rodgers thanked Rodgers for his time in Green Bay but added that it was time for the Packers “to do the right thing.”

Rodgers also disclosed that, soon after the team concluded an 8-9 season that put an end to a run of three consecutive NFC North championships, he had conversations on his future with Packers officials. Following the season, he claimed to have spent several days in complete darkness in a chamber on an isolated retreat in Oregon. When he came out, he saw a change in the Packers’ attitude towards his future with the team. He disclosed that at the time, he was 90% leaning towards retirement.
Days of conjecture around Aaron Rodgers’ future with the Packers have ended with this news. When talking with Green Bay TV station WBAY last week about Aaron Rodgers’ future, Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy used the past tense when referring to the quarterback. Rodgers will be inducted into both the Packers and Pro Football Halls of Fames, regardless of what occurs.
In an attempt to snap the longest current postseason drought in NFL history, the Jets have been expressing interest in Rodgers. After leading Green Bay’s offence from 2019 to 21, Nathaniel Hackett is their new offensive coordinator and received high marks from Aaron Rodgers. Should Rodgers wind up in the Jets, history would repeat itself since the Packers traded Brett Favre to the Jets in 2008, the same year Rodgers became the starting quarterback for Green Bay.
The NFL will surely be shaken up by Rodgers’ trade to the Jets, and the future seasons will be interesting to watch. Both teams’ supporters will be anxiously anticipating his New York debut.
