Even though Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham are now dominating the Premier League, there are still rumors that the Australian is trying to bolster his team.
Heung-min Son and Richarlison have been left to lead the line for Spurs in Harry Kane’s absence. With six goals this season, the former has performed very well (Transfermarkt).
It appears that Postecoglou may try to increase his offensive options with a player he is quite familiar with. After moving to Saudi Arabia this summer, Jota, who Postecoglou signed for Celtic in 2021, has struggled and has already been linked with a transfer to Spurs (Daily Mirror).
Spurs may provide a way out for Jota.
Jota is not even listed as an Al-Ittihad player in the league this season and is anticipated to be wanted by the time January rolls around. Football Insider claims that Tottenham is “one of several clubs” that are interested in signing the Portuguese attacker.
Jota is rumored to be “one of the best available and most sought-after stars” when the January transfer market opens, and Spurs manager Postecoglou has “caught his attention” due to his circumstances in the Middle East.
As a “big fan” of Jota, the 58-year-old may end up saving his former player from his current situation.
Tottenham Web Opinion
What happened to Jota out there is strange. I don’t understand why any club would contract a guy only to release him after five brief outings, but I guess these teams can afford to be that snide.
I’m not entirely sure if Jota could function in the Premier League, but if Ange chose to sign him, I would trust his judgment.
