Maguire’s Great Escape: Merseyside to Manchester?

A Worthy Battle for Maguire

Harry Maguire, a defender for Manchester United, is the subject of a saga as Everton outpaces their Premier League rivals Tottenham and West Ham in their pursuit of him. This information was provided by Football Insider, a dependable source close to the action.

Before the upcoming transfer window deadline, Chelsea, along with the three other Premier League clubs Tottenham, West Ham, and even Everton, are interested in hiring the England center-back.

Tottenham interested in signing Harry Maguire from Manchester United

Willing to Part Ways

According to reports, the Old Trafford team is willing to let the 30-year-old Maguire, who earns close to £200,000 per week, go for two more years. According to Football Insider, Manchester United has said they are willing to let the defender go for a reasonable £35 million. The problem is that Maguire wants payment for his £10 million deal before consenting to a release.

Everton’s Strategic Move

It is obvious that Everton wants to possess Maguire, and they have shown their desire by taking action. The player appears to have been interested in and thinks highly of the Toffees’ offering.

Following the departures of Yerry Mina and Conor Coady and despite the uncertainty surrounding the future of Jarrad Branthwaite, Sean Dyche is actively looking for a new center-back.

The West Ham Connection

Intriguingly, there’s a connection to West Ham in the form of an emerging interest in Branthwaite, a 21-year-old star who is eager for more consistent game time following a successful loan spell at PSV Eindhoven.

Old Trafford’s Bench Beckons

Maguire’s stint at Old Trafford seems on the verge of reducing to a bench-warming role, should he stay put beyond the 1 September deadline. Despite making 31 appearances across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign, he only started in 16 of these. The player, who was a mainstay post his 2019 signing, is now playing second fiddle to Erik ten Hag’s preferred central defenders – Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and even Luke Shaw.

Will Everton’s intent translate into action, or will another club swoop in for the England international? Only the approaching transfer window deadline will tell. Stay tuned!
