Journalist reacts to Jean-Philippe Gbamin’s departure from …

Paul Brown thinks that because of the transfer fee and his lack of playing time, Jean-Philippe Gbamin was the worst purchase made by Farhad Moshiri at Everton.

They paid a £25 million transfer fee, as reported by the BBC, to acquire the Ivorian midfield player in the summer of 2019.

Since then, he has battled injuries, and this summer, he left Goodison Park after his contract was immediately canceled.

The Daily Mirror-featured journalist Brown stated, It has nothing to do with the player himself, because he has been very unlucky, but you have to say that Gbamin will go down as the worst signing of the Moshiri era, in an interview with Give Me Sport.

They intended him to be a vital member of this team for many years when they brought him in. They released Idrissa Gueye before signing him. Gueye was a huge asset to the squad, therefore finding a suitable replacement was imperative.

Regretfully, Gbamin’s time at Everton was filled with setbacks due to his recurrent injuries that prevented him from playing.

Although it’s difficult to hold him responsible for it, you would have to admit that was likely their worst signing to date given the financial commitment they made, the time of the transfer, and the disparity between their expectations and what they really received. However, there are a good number of competitors.

Obviously

The signing of Gbamin encapsulates the calamitous nature of the Moshiri period at Goodison Park, possibly the worst in recent memory.

The team, skillfully assembled by David Moyes, appeared to be poised to emerge as the best of the rest.

There was money to be spent. They had the option to follow Brighton’s lead because a new stadium was imminent.

Nevertheless, Moshiri chose to listen to agents rather than appointing qualified football experts to make these selections, resulting in money being wasted on the incorrect players.

After a while, nothing at Goodison Park truly made sense, and Marcel Brands was a complete failure as sporting director.

Gbamin was on loan during the previous season, and even though he is a free agent, no team is signing him, which only serves to highlight the kind of players the team has been bringing in.
