Youssef Chermiti medical update emerges with striker ‘getting very close’ to Everton – Sky Sports
Youssef Chermiti is set for his Everton medical Monday with his transfer to Goodison Park “getting very close”, according to Sky Sports.
The “breaking transfer news” was “good news for Everton” as the 19-year-old striker closes in on the Premier League, Tom White reported live on Sky Sports News on Sunday, August 5.
In order to finalize the transfer, the medical will now be performed on Monday, according to White, who stated that “Chermiti is on his way from Sporting to Everton, medical tomorrow and then it should be done.”
A fee of £12million plus £3m in add-ons has been settled on between the two clubs, with personal terms also agreed with the Portuguese youngster.
Almost there
The Toffees had wanted to get Chermiti in prior to this weekend but it looks like the delay on that timeframe should only be a few days.
It appears the forward will be in ready for the start of the Premier League season, but how much of a contribution he will be expected to make straight away remains to be seen, until he gets up to speed with Sean Dyche’s set up.
As long as Dominic Calvert-Lewin can stay fit for the first few games Chermiti may not be thrown straight in for much too early.
Everton seem likely to start the season with more transfer business still needed, which is far from ideal, but Dyche will take what he can get since signings have proven so challenging in his time at the club.
The Toffees stole ahead of Bournemouth and Wolves to close in on Chermiti so they will hope that they are vindicated in pushing the move through.
Getting a deal done for a striker has been a long time in the making so it is a positive development that one is finally on the brink, but the squad would look much healthier with a couple more attacking arrivals, preferably with more experience.
