GOOD NEWS: Everton defender will be gradually reintroduced after missing many weeks – Injury Expert

Dr. Rajpal Brar, a specialist in injuries, is a welcome addition to our exclusive writer lineup. He will offer his opinions on Everton’s injury status every week.

After suffering an injury last season, Seamus Coleman, a defender for Everton, will gradually reintegrate into the first team system, according to Dr. Rajpal Brar.

The Toffees captain’s season was over after he needed to be lifted off a stretcher during the 2-2 draw with Leicester City in May 2023.

He had knee surgery on May 12 and hasn’t participated in any games or resumed full training since.

Doctor of physical therapy and sports scientist Brar, who spoke exclusively with Goodison News about the player’s status, said: “His training appears to be limited at this time with low-intensity training and re-acclimating him to football motions along with continued rehab in the gym.

“His advancement will basically depend on how he responds, so I can’t offer a schedule on that, but based on the reported return dates, he appears likely to remain out for several weeks.

“Given that he underwent surgery and missed a significant amount of time, he will likely be introduced gradually through bounce matches.”

He is anticipated to return by October 21 according to Premier Injuries, although Dr. Brar won’t give a specific date.

Coleman is currently practicing on the grass and working with the physiotherapists in an effort to regain his match sharpness.

Before returning to the Premier League, the Republic of Ireland international might play some games with the under-21s to gauge his level of fitness.

The Merseyside Derby is on September 21; Coleman’s participation in that game against Liverpool, their bitter rivals, will be encouraging.
