Everton transfer news: Trabzanspor interested, Fenerbache eager to buy Andre Gomes
According to the Daily Mail, Fenerbache are eager to close a deal and are interested in signing Everton player Andre Gomes.
Trabzanspor are also interested in the 30-year-old Portuguese international, according to the UK online daily (12 September), although Fenerbache are demonstrating the greatest readiness to complete the transaction before the Turkish deadline on Friday, September 15.
Following the recent transfer of Demarai Gray to Saudi Arabian club Al Ettifaq, another Goodison Park exodus is now possible, and the Toffees are anxious to get Gomes off their books.
He must still be an Everton player somehow.
For the past two years, the 30-year-old has been connected with a long-term departure from Goodison Park. Many people have wondered how he is still on the Toffees’ books, but a transfer never appeared to happen.
Against Crystal Palace at home in May 2022, Gomes made his last appearance in the Premier League in front of the Everton faithful. [Transfermarkt] It has been a very long time since he last shone in front of the home crowd.
He didn’t play for the Toffees against Fulham on opening day at home, and it’s unlikely that he will ever play again for the Merseyside club.
The Portuguese international did occasionally display flashes of brilliance at Goodison Park, and even before suffering a tragic ankle injury in 2019, when he made 27 appearances for the Toffees, he appeared to be a significant component.
Everton will be keen for Fenerbache to formally approach them about their interest as Friday’s Turkish deadline approaches. His efforts for LOSC Lille last season demonstrate that he is definitely worth a respectable sum.
Just a few more days remain till both sides may ultimately split ways.
