NEW UPDATE: In January, Everton moves first to get a new £18 million striker for Dyche…….

According to reports from Italy, Everton has started the process of signing a new goal scorer for January. Talks are expected to begin this week.

Transfer targets for Everton

Despite the Blues’ recent strong performance in the Premier League, it is still advisable to consider adding new players during the January transfer window. To expand his options, Sean Dyche would undoubtedly love to add a few new players, and Everton has been connected to a lot of signings in recent weeks.

The Merseysiders are expected to pursue players such as Aston Villa’s Leander Dendoncker in midfield, and Juventus’ Federico Gatti, a defender, is thought to be a strong candidate to take Jarrad Branthwaite’s place should he leave the team soon—though, naturally, supporters would prefer to avoid that scenario.

The 27-year-old is seen by Salernitana as someone who can generate funds, so they may be willing to let him go in January in order to raise money. In negotiations with his agent, the Blues are thought to have initiated contact first. The player is currently valued at €22 million (£18.9 million). Indeed, according to a different report, he has a €21 million (£18 million) contract clause that would enable him to sign with a Premier League team, and Salernitana president Danilo Iervolino recently raised the possibility of some players leaving:

“I don’t think the players we bought played poorly; I think the players who stayed have disappointed us the most. An environment torn apart conceals the problems. There are factions, and, regrettably, we are unable to achieve proper harmony. Many players are eager to get away from Salernitana.

“They’d rather be somewhere else, but they’re here. They are aware that many players could perish if they were without joy. With many of them, I will struggle. I’ll kick out those who don’t want to stay in January. We will only accept guests who wish to remain in Salerno going forward.”

In terms of having multiple reliable end-product providers in the final third, Everton still appears a little light in attacking areas, so acquiring Dia in January could be a wise move. With 20 goals in just 44 Serie A appearances, the 27-year-old Senegalese player has established himself as a capable player, and he could start strong at Goodison next month.
