Beto in contention to make his Premier League debut as Blues trip to Shelffild this weekend

Beto is in contention to make his Premier League debut from the start, while late decisions will be made on the availability of Dwight McNeil and Dominic Calvert-Lewin for Everton’s trip to Sheffield United on Saturday (12.30pm BST).

The Blues return to Premier League action this weekend, with Sean Dyche’s side hoping to build on Wednesday’s Carabao Cup triumph against Doncaster Rovers.

Beto, who joined Everton on a permanent basis from Udinese earlier this week, came off the bench in the second half of the midweek match at the Eco-Power Stadium and scored to put the Toffees back on level terms, before fellow summer signing Arnaut Danjuma scored late on to seal a 2-1 win.

Dyche stated in his pre-match press conference that Beto is “physically ready” to play again this weekend and is “desperate” to be involved as soon as possible.

Dwight McNeil, who returned to training with the main group on Thursday after recuperating from an ankle injury sustained in preseason, will be given a late call.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s availability was described as “touch and go” by Dyche, with the 26-year-old striker scheduled to be inspected after it was announced he will not require surgery for a facial injury suffered against Aston Villa earlier in August.

Calvert-Lewin has been training individually to maintain his fitness while protecting a knock to his sinus area and, if he fails to make Saturday’s clash with Sheffield United, Dyche is confident he will be available again for Everton’s next game after the upcoming international break.

Vitalii Mykolenko, who limped off during the midweek clash with Doncaster Rovers, is unlikely to be available.

Jack Harrison and Dele are continuing their individual rehabilitation from injury on the grass, while Seamus Coleman (knee) also remains sidelined. Dyche was also confident Harrison would be close to a return after the international break.

Responding to inquiries about prospective incomings and outgoings before the summer transfer deadline on Friday night, Dyche said: “There are a few circling a few of ours players.” One of them is Alex Iwobi. He and Tom Cannon are in comparable situations, but no agreement has been reached.

“The Club must consider the business side of things.” Money does not flow freely, so it must be examined. We’ll see what we can do if anything happens with those two players.

“We’re obviously monitoring situations in terms of possible avenues, but you need the money to bring in those players.”
