Competition seems to be the word of the day as Everton are linked with another battle for a highly-rated youth player.
Reporting on Juventus’ supposed interest in Borussia Monchengladbach’s Winsley Boteli, Everton are named as one of the clubs ready to go toe-to-toe with the Italian giants. Not only that – their pursuit would be “fierce.”
The Blues’ “swoop” has forced Juve to speed up their process, says the report, for the 17-year-old who has 12 goals in 10 U19 Bundesliga West matches in 2023/24.
I have to be honest, I am 50/50 on whether Sean Dyche was right or wrong not to make changes earlier at the weekend. On one hand, I understand why Sean kept things as they were. On the other, we did look tired and were in need of some fresh legs.
But, when you consider how far we have come under Sean in the short space of time he has been here, I just think you have to trust his opinion.
Also, if we see out the game, which we were incredibly close to doing, then we are probably not having this debate; instead, we are saying how Sean got it spot on.
However, what I would say is that the changes Brighton made certainly improved them. They looked more of a goal threat as a result. There is also no getting away from the fact that we looked tired. I have been there as a player; your body is fine, but in your head you are starting to feel it.
