With three straight wins, the Blues are now four points above the relegation zone.Everton is now tied for second place in the Premier League after winning four of their previous five games. But after losing 10 points, the Toffees are in the bottom half of the standings.
Dyche would have had Everton in 10th place in the standings before his return to Turf Moor had there not been a penalty. This Saturday marks the Blues coach’s first visit to Burnley as an opposing boss. He last stood in the away dugout at Turf Moor while playing for Watford in August of 2011.
Tim Sherwood laughs at ideas Sean Dyche, the manager of Everton, is a gem.
Before Everton’s 10-point deduction, Sherwood thinks Dyche would have been lucky to finish in the middle of the table this season. However, Dyche’s handling of the Toffees’ response to the penalty has shown the analyst that he is by no means an underappreciated manager.
Sherwood said to No Tippy Tappy Football, “Not by me.” “He’s simply outstanding. And a ten-point deduction for Dychey, who defied all odds with his siege mentality, fixed bayonets, and other tactics.
“The task remained the same from the start of the season to the present: remain in the league. Simply put, the fact that they were cruising made it more thrilling for them. Supporters of Everton found it dull.
They must have realized that they would be in the middle of the table. What use does that serve? Take 10 points away from them all of a sudden and increase the excitement. Which ones were they? At 23 points, if they had recovered their 10 points by now,? What a fantastic, fantastic job he did.
In December, no Premier League side is playing better than they are.
Over the past five Premier League games, only AFC Bournemouth, Aston Villa, and Liverpool have accrued more points (13) than Everton (12). The only teams with fewer goals conceded than the Toffees (5) are the Cherries (3) and the Villans (4). The Blues are also fifth in terms of goals scored (9).
Everton’s stellar defensive record has been a major factor in Dyche’s success. The Goodison Park locals defeated Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Nottingham Forest 1-0, 3-0, and 2-0. Up until December, no elite squad can match their record.
Dyche now needs to hope he can keep them in form on Saturday when Everton plays Burnley. A victory at Turf Moor will intensify the Toffees’ momentum prior to their trips to Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, which are scheduled during the Merseysiders’ Christmas break.
