Alan Brazil believes Everton’s point deduction could end up being ‘catastrophic’ for the Premier League.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the pundit claimed that the £20 million Everton had overspent was ‘nothing’.

The Toffees were handed a huge ten-point deduction last week after they were found guilty of breaching financial fair play rules earlier this year.

The Merseyside outfit were found to have gone around £20 million over the maximum amount that Premier League clubs are allowed to spend over a three-year period.

Everton were referred to an independent regulator, who then confirmed they would be docked 10 points, leaving them 19th in the Premier League table. How Premier League table will look if Everton hit with record-breaking points deduction - Mirror Online

Everton have since said they will appeal the decision, while many pundits and fans have been very critical of the punishment.

Meanwhile, Man City have been accused of a whopping 115 breaches between 2009 and 2018, and are still probably quite far away from finding out their potential punishment.Everton 'could face record points deduction' if found guilty after Premier League recommendation - Liverpool Echo

However, there has been plenty of debate regarding the outcome, with many believing they should receive a much bigger point deduction than Everton – who had been found guilty of only a single breach.

Alan Brazil has now slammed the Premier League for their ‘not fair’ decision and has claimed it could have ‘catastrophic’ consequences on the top flight.
