£100k-a-week The Everton player now acknowledges one area of improvement for his game.

Now, Tarkowski himself wants to step up and elevate his performance. The 30-year-old defender wants to score goals more frequently in his performances. There is no reason the £100,000 per week player shouldn’t be a dependable danger from set-piece scenarios given his aerial talent.

Tarkowski discussed this goal following the Brentford victory. The twice-capped England player was cited by the Liverpool Echo as saying, “With a head my size, I should be heading the ball like that! Despite the fact that it was nice to score, we had been threatening to win for a long, so it was about time.

“I frequently remark that I should project greater menace in the opposing box. I believe that while I focus a lot on issues in our box, I don’t create as many issues in the other box.

Tarkowski does not have a particularly strong goal scoring record, even for a defender. Only twice in his 47 total outings for Everton has he scored a goal.

There is no reason why Tarkwoski shouldn’t become a regular danger in these circumstances, especially given how much emphasis Dyche places on set-pieces. He can fight and wrestle for space and is strong in the air.

Against the Bees, Tarkowski gave a good all-around effort. He was outstanding defensively, making a series of vital defender interventions to thwart the Brentford attackers in addition to his contribution to a critical goal.

Everton must now build on this victory as a team and truly start their season. The Toffees must turn this performance into a run of success that will help them escape the drop.
