JUST NOW:The intention of Dan Campbell to leave Detriot lions …

Despite rumors, Dan Campbel had the intention of moving from   Detriot Lions to  top assistant.

Although Mike Kafka isn’t anticipated to go with Don Wink Martindale and former special teams coach Thomas McGaughey, Brian Daboll and the New York Giants have already fired two coordinators.

Jordan of the New York Post claims that the Giants had no intention of moving on from offensive coordinator Kafka. There are contradicting reports regarding Jordan future, including that update.

Speaking on the “Breaking Big Blue podcast, ESPN’s Jordan Raanan offered a different suggestion.

“Mike Kafka, the more I hear, the less likely that is—and I know he’s still there today, Raanan remarked. Even if he doesn’t wind up as head coach, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Jordan let him go and he ends up somewhere else.” He is not content.

Raanan even stated that he had heard from five, six, seven sources that Kafka is done with the Giants.

Daboll’s play-calling for a faltering offense is the main source of the issue.

Raanan claims that Kafka found Daboll’s presence to be very smothering.Even if it is his offense, he was excessively interested in it, if that is possible. However, Kafka, the offensive coordinator, is being undermined, absolutely undercut, in a sense.

Play calling was a problem early in the season, and there were whispers that Daboll relieved Kafka of his duties for the Week 2 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. In contrast to the Cards, Kafka was eager to emphasize that he was still wearing the headset and that he and his head coach were still working together on the process.

Daboll’s discussions with defensive coordinator Martindale revealed the tense dynamic between him and his top assistant. Before Martindale left the team in January, there were rumors of a tense personality conflict during the season. The primary reason for the breakup was a damaged relationship with Daboll.

Kafka is given the opportunity to leave on his own terms. Interviews for the head coaching positions with the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans presented an opportunity, according to both Ryan and his ESPN colleague Adam Schefter.

Remarkably, Ryan Dunleavy, Schwartz’s Post coworker, believes that “a lateral move remains in play even if Kafka doesn’t earn a head coach job from his several interviews.”Kafka might be convinced to join another team in need of an offensive coordinator if they offered him complete control. According to Schwartz, “Daboll did not state unequivocally that Kafka will continue to call the plays in 2024.”

Daboll has a known person to take over as coordinator if the Giants and Kafka decide to part ways.

Giants’ ‘Pretty Clear’ Mike Kafka Substitute

Fortunately for Daboll, gaining coordinator experience seems like the natural decision when Kafka retires. Shea Tierney, the quarterbacks coach, has been named the offensive coordinator for the National Team at the Reese’s Senior Bowl this year.

Dan Duggan of The Athletic says it’s very evident that Tierney is in position to replace” Kafka, provided the latter departs.

Shea Tierney, the quarterback coach for the Giants, will serve as the offensive coordinator for one club, while Mike Adams, the assistant ST coach, will oversee the ST for the other.

It seems obvious that Tierney will take Kafka’s place if he goes.

Given his past interactions with Daboll, Tierney makes sense as an offensive coordinator while awaiting the Giants. In 2017, while Daboll was Alabama’s offensive coordinator and Tierney was an offensive coach under Nick Saban, the two collaborated at Alabama. Tierney traveled with Daboll to Buffalo in 2018 and to the Giants in 2022, according to Schwartz.

Even though Tierney’s recent tour as Daniel Jones’ position coach hardly qualifies as the best recommendation, elevating him could make sense. After agreeing to a four-year, $160 million contract last summer, Jones regressed.

Injuries and subpar performance from the offensive line did not help, but even when healthy, Jones had trouble making decisions and hitting targets. The Giants must be able to select a quarterback in the 2024 NFL draft despite his continued problems.

In such case, Tierney’s participation in the Senior Bowl might be quite important. In addition to coaching, he’ll get to know a few intriguing prospects, like Michael Pennix Jr., a great player in Washington.

Either Tierney will give Kafka that information, or he will use it to guide his own offensive strategy with the Giants in a new way.
