Jerry Jones manager of the Dallas Cowboys, declared that he would shortly be retiring due to

Although Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, calls the team’s 48-32 loss to the Packers the most “painful” of his 35 years in the league, he makes no mention of Dak Prescott, the quarterback, or coach Mike McCarthy’s futures.

Soon after Sunday’s 48-32 playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones described the game as the most “painful” of his lengthy career.

“This seems like the most painful [playoff loss], since we all had such great expectations and anticipation for this club,” Jones said to reporters. “I felt like we were in perfect alignment and shape, but it didn’t work out for us.”

Jones’ club has won three Super Bowls, but their dismal postseason performance is currently what has made them most famous.

After losing, Jones’ Cowboys are now just 5-13 in the postseason after leading the team to victory against Pittsburgh in Super Bowl XXX and the Lombardi Trophy.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wasted little time in calling Sunday’s 48-32 playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers the most “painful” of his lengthy career. Jones did not elaborate, but given Sunday’s appalling performance, head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Dak Prescott appear to be under duress. Packers defensive tackle Kenny Clark (97) is called for a face mask penalty on Prescott.

“I am aware of the boundaries of my responsibility, and I am confident in that,” Jones declared, avoiding any discussion about coaching or personnel choices.

McCarthy responded, “I haven’t thought about it for ‘one second,’” when asked about his future.

With six-time Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick leaving for New England and Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh reportedly seeking a return to the NFL, there are plenty of possible successors.

In yet another postseason disaster for him and the No. 2 seed Cowboys (12-6), Prescott threw two interceptions followed by three somewhat meaningless touchdown passes.

The Cowboys lost at home for the first time since they were defeated by Tampa Bay and the now-retired Tom Brady 16 months ago, and it also marked the most points the team had given up in a postseason contest. 38 was the previous peak.

Has Mike McCarthy overseen his last Dallas Cowboys game as a coach? Many appear to believe so.

This season, the Cowboys did not trail by more than eight points at AT&T Stadium before falling down 27-0 in the first half. The Cowboys have not advanced to an NFC championship game since the last of their five Super Bowl victories, which was 28 years ago.

After Dallas lost their home playoff opener for the second time in three postseasons under former Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy, concerns will be raised about McCarthy’s future as a head coach.

Dallas is the first club to qualify for a conference title game despite winning at least 12 games in three straight playoff seasons.

In the last two weeks, the Cowboys stormed to the NFC East title and had an opportunity to play at home at least twice in the postseason. Rather, they enter an unexpectedly unsettled offseason.

“To be honest, I’m just astonished,” Prescott remarked. We were beaten right from the start of the match. There isn’t any way to avoid it. It can’t be made any more pleasant. Surprise.
