Sad News: A former Coventry City and Wolves striker has died at the age of 45.

The former Belgian international, who played for Coventry in the Premier League, was described as a “legend” by one of his previous teams.

Former Coventry and Wolves striker Cedric Roussel, who passed away at the age of 45, has received tributes.

The former international from Belgium played in the Premier League alongside Robbie Keane for the Sky Blues after moving from Gent in 1999.

After experiencing injury issues, Roussel joined Wolves in 2001. He stayed there for 18 months before going back on loan to his local team, Mons, in Belgium.

Prior to a subsequent move back to Mons, Roussel, who earned three caps for his country, also spent time with Genk, Rubin Kazan in Russia, and Standard Liege.

Roussel was honored as “our legend and ambassador” by Mons, who described themselves as “devastated” at the news of his passing.

In a statement, Coventry City claimed they were “deeply saddened” by Roussel’s passing and that he had played 43 games and scored 11 goals for the Sky Blues between 1999 and 2001.

“Our condolences are with his family and friends at this very sad time.”

In a statement, Wolves said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Cedric Roussel’s family and friends. Our former player, who was only 45, has died away.

Mons has planned a memorial for Roussel, who reportedly had a heart attack, during their upcoming game.

Additionally, the Belgian Football Association sent condolences to Roussel’s friends and family.
