Sky Blues writer Andy Turner offers his Coventry Live readers a detailed analysis of one of the best summer additions thus far.

Milan van Ewijk of Coventry City is one of the team’s most notable summer additions.

Milan van Ewijk joined Coventry City in the summer for £3.4 million, and since then, he has swiftly made a name for himself at the CBS Arena. Similar to the majority of the team’s recent additions, the Dutch wing-back required a few games to establish himself and demonstrate his abilities.

The 23-year-old former Netherlands Under-21 international caused quite a stir when he signed with the Sky Blues, especially considering that he played on the opposite flank to Ian Maatsen, the Chelsea prospect who was so good during a season-long loan at City the previous season.

Van Ewijk opened his account for the team with his first goal in the thrilling 3-3 draw with Watford, capping off a successful start to the season for him personally. Due to a minor quad tear, he was forced to miss three games against Huddersfield, QPR, and Blackburn.

However, he returned to action this past weekend, coming on as a second half substitute and helping City equalise against Norwich with a cross from the right that Canaries defender Ben Gibson headed into the goal to share the spoils in a match in which he came dangerously close to winning with a late chance on goal.

He has played in eight of City’s eleven Championship games this season, starting six of them and substituting for the other two. In that time, he has rapidly established himself as one of the team’s top players and Mark Robins’ first choice right wing-back.
