I Will Leave: Chiefs’ Travis  Kelce Tackled Controversy Over Harrison Butker’s Graduation Speech

On their podcast, tight end Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs and his brother, Jason Kelce, discussed kicker Harrison Butker’s contentious graduation speech.

Jason stated that his wife, Kylie Kelce, wasn’t a big fan of Butker’s message, which encouraged women to accept their natural calling as “homemakers,” during the May 24 episode of “New Heights.

Jason said to Travis, “My wife was a little irritated with some of the remarks.” “Listen, you’re going to have to go back into the kitchen and make me a sandwich,” I murmured. I’m currently listening to the game.

Jason bursts into laughter instantly, and Travis finds himself chuckling too. “We were really succeeding!” stated Travis. The joke’s video has received over half a million views.

Someone wrote, “I was dying reading this!!!!!!” I was giggling uncontrollably. Crazy for @JasonKelce! Hey, @nbcsnl, hire this guy to host your show! Would you please? “I love how Jason is checking to see if Kylie is coming after he said it,” retorted one woman. lol 😂.

In addition, Jason shared his honest opinions about Butker’s speech, which included jabs at pro-choice Catholics, Jews, the LGBTQ community, and IVF.

Jason stated, “There are always going to be viewpoints that everyone holds that you will disagree with, no matter what; many of the things he mentioned in his commencement speech are not things that I identify myself with.”

I can listen to someone speak and find a lot of value in it, such as when he emphasizes the value of a family and the sacrifices that a great mother can make, but he also acknowledges that not everyone wants to be a housewife and that’s okay.” While listening to someone, you take in their positive aspects, hear other things, and then declare, “Well, I don’t f****** like that.”

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce agreed with Harrison Butker’s “majority” of his speech, but he did not agree with it.

Travis expressed support for the kicker but also distanced himself from Butker’s opinions throughout the discussion of his statement. Travis remarked, “I think Pat [Mahomes] stated it best when he mentioned that he is a terrific teammate and a great person.

He has shown me nothing but care and respect when it comes to my friends and family. He handles everyone in such manner. His opinions and the things he expressed during his graduating speech at Saint Benedict’s are his own.

Aside from his love for his family and his children, I can’t say that I agree with most of it or almost any of it. However, I don’t think I should criticize him based on his beliefs about how to live, particularly his religious beliefs. That simply isn’t my identity.

Ed and Donna Kelce, Travis’s parents, received a shout-out. He remarked, “My father and mother together made the house what it was.” “They were amazing at being there for me every day of my life. They were homemakers and providers.

I had a wonderful upbringing during that time. I don’t think everyone should parent in the same way that my parents did, but I will always be grateful to them and appreciate them for being able to care for me and make sure that home was what it was. Without both of them in my life, I wouldn’t be the same person.

Chiefs News: Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes Discuss Harrison Butker’s Speech

Butker faced a great deal of criticism for his remarks, some of which came from the Mount St. Scholastica Benedictine Sisters. Nonetheless, Tavia and Gracie Hunt, the spouse and daughter of Chiefs co-owner Clark Hunt, enthusiastically endorsed Butker’s statement.

On May 22, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid expressed his support for Butker. “We honor one another’s viewpoints,” Reid said to the media. Although we don’t always abide by them, we value everyone’s right to speak up. Man, that’s one of the best things about America. “I don’t think he was speaking poorly against women; he has his ideas,” Reid added. Everyone respects that. You guys have a lot of beliefs that I disagree with, and I let you guys in this room.”

“There’s a lot of people from a lot of different areas of life, and they have a lot of different ideas on things,” Mahomes said to reporters of Butker. Furthermore, we won’t always agree.

The Kansas City Chiefs are honing a particular aspect of their already formidable offense as they begin their 2024 championship defense.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes told reporters on Wednesday as the team completed Phase 3 of their offseason exercises at the team facility in Kansas City. “I believe y’all saw today; we tried to throw a few more long passes.”

Return to the in-depth strategy, Mahomes advised.

“We want to return to having that component of the attack as well, but I believe we’ve done a tremendous job with the intermediate and short things. We are being strongly encouraged to move it down the field by Coach Andy Reid. We’re working to overcome our defense, even though it’s difficult.

Despite winning the Lombardi Trophy for a second time in a row in 2023, Kansas City’s usually explosive offensive was forced to reinvent itself, substituting patient, extended drives for rapid scoring bursts.

Mahomes completed the season with just 8.9% of his passes traveling deep, which is the second-lowest percentage of his career, according to Pro Football Focus. However, a shift might occur with the signing of Hollywood Brown, a quick wideout.

Hollywood performs admirably as a receiver, head coach Andy Reid remarked on Wednesday. It appears that he and Pat are growing close to one another. We’ll just proceed cautiously at first.

Brown impressed teammates on both sides of the ball on Wednesday during practice by making a one-handed grab during the 11-on-11 team period, which raised eyebrows.

“On those, you just have to shake his hand,” linebacker Nick Bolton said.

With a smile, cornerback Trent McDuffie added, “Boy, we are rolling.” “There’s no doubt Pat carries a firearm.
