Nicolas Jackson is currently feeling both dissatisfied and irritated, according to Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Jackson has received four yellow cards, none of which were for fouls, but when asked why, the Argentine responded to football.london, “Because he’s a striker and he wants to score. He complains when something happens because he is upset and frustrated, and according to today’s rules, complaining to the referee will result in a direct yellow card. We must comply with the regulation since it is one.
Jackson, 22, has now only scored one goal in five Premier League appearances after blanking against Andoni Iraola’s team. He is also just one caution away from being suspended.
Nicolas Jackson is capable.
Jackson is clearly a player based on his early performances in England.
His emotions would undoubtedly be quite a little different right now if his shot at the Vitality Stadium had connected instead of hitting the goalpost.
For a 22-year-old to lead the line for Chelsea, a famous club with huge expectations, was always a lot to ask.
Even though he did miss a clear-cut opportunity against Nottingham Forest right before the international break, it would be completely unreasonable to blame the Senegal international for the Blues’ difficulties.
That day, it cost Chelsea dearly, as they lost 1-0. However, Jackson’s advancement into these roles is encouraging. He has promise, which is wonderful, but Pochettino likely needs another player to complement that, perhaps a more seasoned striker who can share the load of goal scoring with Jackson.
