JUST IN: Chelsea is currently contemplating making a sizable offer to sign a defender who won the Champions League.

According to reports from Italy, Chelsea is thinking about making a sizable offer to capture AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez.Calcio Mercato reports that the Blues might make a move for the Frenchman to replace Marc Cucurella, who will almost surely be moving on.

Hernandez has established himself as one of the best players in the world at his position and is quite likely to catch the attention of elite organizations.

He also played for the France team that placed second to Enzo Fernandez’s Argentina team in last year’s World Cup.

Chelsea is thinking about Hernandez

If Cucurella’s future is not at Stamford Bridge, the Blues might require a left-back.

The Spaniard has only featured once this season, when they welcomed lower league competition in the EFL Cup, and is yet to appear in a Premier League match.

Ironically, his move to Manchester United, which appeared to be on the table as a loan, appeared to be derailed by this appearance.

Despite the fact that Ian Maatsen and even Levi Colwill appear to be given priority over Cucurella when it comes to playing time, he is well below Ben Chilwell in the pecking order.

Despite being one of the starters on the preseason tour of the United States, the Dutchman has made very few appearances this year. It is feared that this is because his owners want to sell him.

On deadline day, they accepted a bid for his services, but he dug in and decided to stay at Stamford Bridge for the time being.
