Chelsea complete transfer U-turn as Newcastle are quoted Lewis Hall price

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea have U-turned on teenage talent Lewis Hall and are willing to sell for £30m over the final two weeks of the window.

The Blues previously told Newcastle that the18-year-old academy graduate was not for sale, deciding instead to loan the defender to Crystal Palace.

However, The Telegraph’s chief writer Sam Wallace reports that he’s now ‘up for sale’ as Chelsea look to balance the books after spending over £900m over the last three transfer windows, with outgoings needed after a £165m double deal for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

With Newcastle focusing on loan-to-buy deals over the final fortnight of the summer window, it remains to be seen if Newcastle have the financial means to pay £30m for Hall, but it’s a promising development that our reported top target is now available.

The Telegraph add that Hall has agreed a new deal until 20230 and was expected to join Palace after Chelsea rebuffed Newcastle’s initial approach, yet this sudden change in stance gives us fresh hope of striking a deal.

He was one of few shining lights in an otherwise wise awful 2022/23 season for Chelsea and actually made his Premier League debut in their 1-0 defeat at St James’ Park last year.
