£50m player: After seeing him play against Luton, Anton Ferdinand was really impressed

Anton Ferdinand thinks Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling may be quite underrated after watching him last night against Luton Town.

Raheem Sterling stole the headlines on Friday evening in the 3-0 victory against Luton, scoring two fantastic goals at Stamford Bridge. His first was a composed finish on his weaker left foot after a mesmerising dribble into the box. Next, he tucked in a right-footed finish after finding space in the penalty area during the second half.

Overall, the £50million attacker (Daily Mail) looked as sharp as he’s ever been since joining the Blues last summer from Manchester City.

Ferdinand was very complimentary of Sterling on social media after the Premier League masterclass against Luton, which also included an assist on top of his two goals.

He claimed on X that the Chelsea winger doesn’t get “the respect he deserves”.

We can agree that most people may have been guilty of slightly forgetting about Sterling’s true individual quality.

In fairness, the English speedster let his standards drop last year during his first Chelsea season. It certainly wasn’t a helpful environment for any Blues star to flourish, though.

Owen Hargreaves was super impressed by Sterling against Luton and think he looked “so sharp”, as quoted by the Premier League’s official website.

It definitely looks like there’s an extra spring in his step in the opening weeks of the season and a hard summer is paying off in a big way.
