Since Celtic interest during the summer, some Enzo Maresca unknowns have been…

Enzo Maresca was the manager of the Celtics before Brendan Rodgers emerged as the front-runner.

Regarding the Hoops position, the Italian, who was the coach at Manchester City at the time, was maybe the most vocal of all. It was widely believed that we would follow the same path for Ange Postecoglou’s success following our employment of him from the City Football Group.

The conversation was sincere at the time, according to rumours that said we would approach him following City’s victory against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final.

Maresca was a strong candidate to take over as our manager. Although he had a respectable playing and coaching history to fall back on, there were still a lot of unknowns. Many thought that after a dismal six months in Serie B with Parma, he wouldn’t be a good fit for the Celtic position.

In all honesty, we’ll never know what would have happened to him in Glasgow. With Brendan Rodgers, the team took a lot more well-trod path, and most of us are happy about it. There are unmistakable indications that the team is beginning to click under the former Leicester City manager after a somewhat sluggish start.

Ironically, Maresca ended up in Leicester. These days, the Foxes play English football in the second division, although that doesn’t seem to remain the case for long. Under the Italian, who has already demonstrated quite a bit, they are soaring.
