Celtic vs Atletico Madrid: We need to be brave, says Brendan Rodgers

In order to maintain their chances of qualifying for Europe, Brendan Rodgers acknowledges that Celtic must defeat Atletico Madrid; they currently sit bottom of Champions League Group E following consecutive losses to Lazio and Feyenoord.

Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Celtic, thinks his team can overcome Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and still have a chance to play in Europe until Christmas.

While he maintains that Celtic don’t have to be the best team in the world to defeat Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, Brendan Rodgers wants his team to learn from hardship.

They want to recover from their late home loss to Lazio in their last game when they play the Spanish team in Group E.

With four points, Atletico and Lazio lead Champions League Group E, one point ahead of Feyenoord, while the Hoops are still unable to secure a point.

It’s a fantastic team that we’re playing against one of the best in the world, but we don’t have to be the best team in the world to win, Rodgers remarked.

.

All we have to do is practice applying pressure, perform well, and somewhat increase your luck.

Hopefully everything all combined with the supporters we can have a great night and certainly we’ll be giving everything to get the result we want.

Earlier this month, Celtic lost 2-1 to Lazio in a game Rodgers thought they should have won due to a stoppage-time goal.

He wants his players to turn their disappointment from that loss into motivation as they try to hang on for a shot at playing in Europe after Christmas.
