Breaking News: Celtics had just announced another Player from 76ers

According to sources who spoke with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sixers and Celtics have reached an agreement to trade third-year guard Jaden Springer to Boston for a second-round selection.

According to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the 76ers will either receive Chicago’s or New York’s 2024 second-round pick, depending on which is better.

According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, Boston plans to acquire Springer with their $6.2 million transfer player exception. Joel Embiid will be the lone player on Philadelphia’s roster with a guaranteed deal for 2024–2025 as a result of moving Springer, Marks continues.

Over his first two NBA seasons, Springer, the 28th pick in the 2021 draft, played in just 18 regular-season games for a total of 95 minutes. The former Tennessee Volunteer, who is still only 21 years old, has averaged 4.0 points in 11.8 minutes per game while playing in 32 games this season.

Springer, a guard with a solid physique at 6-foot-4 and 204 pounds, excelled defensively in the NBA G League from 2021–2023. In the NBA, he hasn’t contributed much offensively, with a career shooting line of.416/.238/.810.

As the Sixers exercised their option in the last year of Springer’s rookie scale contract, he will receive a guaranteed $4 million the next season, where he is currently making $2.2 million. Although it’s unlikely that he will play a significant role for Boston this season, the team obviously thinks highly of him as a prospect, despite his low cost of acquisition. In 2024–2025, his contract might also be helpful for pay matching.
