Should Celtic decide to sell Alistair Johnston soon, they might do so for a profit of £6 million. That is Kris Boyd of Sky Sports’ assertion.
Boys launched into a remarkable tirade criticizing Celtic’s transfer policy in comparison to those of his former team while he was speaking at Paisley before Rangers’ match against St. Mirren.
There are some of them who have been there for a very long period, and there are others who have been there for much too long, according to Boyd [Sky Sports].
“When I think of Celtic, Jeremie Frimpong comes to mind. If you compare him to James Tavernier, he was signed for £300,000, sold for £10,000,000 with add-ons, and is likely to transfer once again in order to make Celtic even more money.
“Josip Juranovic, who cost £2.5–£3 million to acquire, leaves Celtic for £7–£7.5 million. Save up that cash. Buy Alistair Johnston for £4 million, and they likely have another player worth $10 million on their books as well.
Celtic sign players who succeed, and every single one of them has had greater success than James Tavernier.
“They move on when they win things,”
Celtic’s transfer strategy maintains them in front of the SPFL’s competition.
Of course what Boyd says is true. For more than 20 years, Celtic has had a successful transfer strategy in place.
Due to the disastrous financial TV arrangement, Scotland has to find bright young people, develop them, and sell them for a great profit.
In addition to the individuals Boyd has previously highlighted, Kieran Tierney, Odsonne Edouard, Moussa Dembele, and (going a little farther back) Victor Wanyama are just a few of the players who Celtic have profited greatly from.
It’s one of the key causes for the belief that Celtic will become unbeatable in Scotland. Their financial strength even exceeds that of their main competitors.
The greatest part is that Celtic still has a lot of skill in their current lineup, which they could sell for significantly more than £10 million. Fans of Celtic may really say that these are joyous times.
