Why Burnley was unable to accept any of three offers for midfielder’s Vincent Kompany love

Burnley had three bids for Kristian Malt Arnstad rejected in the last week of the transfer window, as Anderlecht prevented a reunion with Vincent Kompany at Turf Moor. After taking over a new club, managers frequently reunite with players they know and trust. At Manchester United, look for Antony, Lisandro Martinez, and Andre Onana under Erik ten Hag. At Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have joined forces with Mikel Arteta.

Meanwhile, Vincent Kompany won the Championsh

ip with former Anderlecht teammates Josh Cullen and Taylor Harwood-Bellis in 2022/23, with Burnley returning to a familiar hunting ground to sign Hannes Delcroix in August.

But it was Burnley’s interest in teenage midfielder Kristian Malt Arnstad that prompted Anderlecht to draw the line and say ‘enough’.
Kristian Malt Arnstad is a favorite of Burnley manager Vincent Kompany.According to TV2, in the final week of the transfer window, the Clarets made three bids for Arnstad. Including one worth around £4.5 million.

In his Friday press conference, Anderlecht’s current head coach made it clear that Kompany’s pursuit of the Norway U21 international would not end in the same manner that his pursuits of Cullen and Delcroix had.

“Kristian will stay with us this season,” Brian Riemer predicted confidently.

When you consider that Arnstad played almost 40 games in all competitions for Anderlecht in 2022/23, his desire to keep the all-action 19-year-old comes as no surprise. Arnstad, an aggressive, tough-tackling enforcer who can also play in at the back if needed, racked up 10 yellow cards during his debut season; what he lacks in experience, he makes up for in excitement.

“Kristian is a very stable kid,” Kompany said of Arnstad after he left the Anderlecht bench.”He’s been going through a logical evolution for a few years.”

Ironically, Kompany went so far as to explain why Arnstand could be better suited staying put rather than starting over in England.

“Anderlecht is one of the best clubs for a young player to develop.” “We’ve seen it too many times; those who leave too soon have problems,” the Manchester City icon continued.

“I also want to highlight a significant difference from the past. (Young players) can now reach the pinnacle of the game by spending a few years in Anderlecht. Consider Sambi Lokonga and Alexis Saelemaekers, who play for Arsenal and AC Milan, respectively.”
