Hertha Berlin and Belgian forward Dodi Lukebakio has arrived in the UK ahead of finalising a move to newly-promoted Premier League side Burnley, as reported by Sport1’s Patrick Berger.
Lukebakio will pen a four-year contract with Burnley, keeping him at the Premier League side until 2027. Relegated from the Bundesliga, Hertha Berlin will receive a respectable €11m plus add-ons for the Belgian, who has entered the final year of his contract at the capital club.
The 25-year-old was a standout performer for Hertha Berlin last season despite their relegation. Lukebakio scored 11 and created four in 32 Bundesliga games, but his goal contributions were unable to prevent Hertha from finishing bottom of the Bundesliga on 29 points.
An arrival in Germany in 2018, Lukebakio has scored 35 and created 23 in 144 Bundesliga games at Fortuna Dusseldorf, Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin.
The Bundesliga is certainly a market that Burnley have targeted with the signing of Jordan Beyer on a permanent basis after impressing on loan, while they also pushed for Borussia Dortmund’s Soumaïla Coulibaly and Wolfsburg’s Aster Vranckx, but were unable reach an agreement with the respective clubs.
